About Us
The eight brigades of the Bendigo Fire Brigades Group serve the rural and semi-rural communities surrounding the city of Bendigo, in Region 2.
Our area includes the townships of Axedale and Marong, together with rural and semi-rural communities, and box-ironbark forest.
The Group headquarters in Adam Street, Bendigo are shared with Fortuna Group, whose member brigades cover central Bendigo and its suburbs. The two groups work closely together on operational activities.
Bendigo Group operates a Field Command Vehicle (acquired with the help of generous donations from Kew Rotary Club, RACV Foundation, RegionalOne Credit Union, McCaigs Air Conditioning and numerous other local businesses) to support brigade responses and as a strike team leader’s vehicle.
As well as coordinating planning, training and operational activities among its own brigades, the Group regularly provides support to neighbouring Groups and Regions. It has contributed strike teams and incident management personnel to major fires in all parts of Victoria, including the campaign fires of 2003 and 2006, and also to interstate operations in Sydney and Coonabarabran.
