Strike Team Roster for 30 Nov 09 to 30 May 10
Activation of strike teams :-
There will be three categories of Strike Team activation:
1. Neighbouring Group/Brigade fire - brigades will be responded via an Alert pager message individually in accordance with turn-out tables. Once it appears 5 or more Eppalock Group vehicles are involved the Eppalock Group FCV will be despatched and crew leaders should make every endeavour to link up with the Eppalock Group S/T Leader. It is expected that paged vehicles will be responding within 5-8 minutes of the pager message. This activation could be overnight for the responding crew.
2. Short Haul - up to 60 minutes/100 - 125km away - rostered S/T vehicles will be despatched as per activation message below. The assembly point or destination will be advised in the pager message and could be at the Group HQ or designated location within the Group area e.g. Axedale FS or Marong FS. It is expected that rostered vehicles will be responding within 10-12 minutes of the activation page message. This activation could be overnight for the responding crews.
3. Long Haul - more than 60 minutes/125km away and Campaign fires - assembly will be at Group HQ and S/T crews will travel by bus. A bus will stay with the Strike Team for the duration of our commitment. There may be a request for specific vehicles, therefore it may not necessarily be the rostered brigades that are selected. It is expected that responding brigades will be at the Group HQ within 35-40 minutes of the activation page. This activation will most likely be for at least 24 hours for the responding crew.
If you are responded as a Crew Leader of a Strike Team vehicle, don't forget to fill out your "T" Card while travelling to the assembly point or destination. It should be ready to be hand in promptly on arrival at the assembly/destination. Also, the Crew Leader should be wearing the designated arm band and the crew should remain with the vehicle unless advised otherwise.
The process for activation of Eppalock Group brigades will generally be:
1. All brigades to notify Group of preparedness details via web site where forecast FDI is over 40. Rostered S/T brigades to include additional Driver and Crew Leader information. Notification the be completed by 10pm the previous evening.
2. VicFire will be advised by RHQ in advance which vehicles to expect for Strike Team 0201.
3. RDO calls Group DO or GO to advise of strike team request, and discusses assembly location/destination.
4. RDO sends Non-Emergency pager message (as per below) to all Group pagers. The selected Strike Team members of those brigades rostered for strike team duty should turn out, and all others are aware that the strike team has been activated.
5. If Group DO has not received the pager message within the expected time for Non- Emergency messages, appliances will be responded via Spectrum.
6. When vehicles are responding they should advise VicFire they "are responding to (Location) as part of Strike Team 0201" and include crew number and response code.
7. If there are any queries regarding any response requirements they should be addressed to the Group DO by phone on 0427 850 914 (5443 2622 if HQ open) prior to response or via radio on channel 1 if the vehicle is already responding.
The ACTIVATION PAGER MESSAGE will be a Non-Emergency page in the following form:-
